INTROVERTS SURVIVAL TACTICS THIS DECEMBER HOLIDAY

The long festive season is finally here full of activities and interactions. Due to the nature of December holiday celebrations, I took my time to mind my introvert friends. Being too occupied especially over Christmas holidays is among the things that could make introverts feel overwhelmed and anxious. Luckily, I got you ways to cope this season.

Pare down activities.

If you are more comfortable with sitting down with friends or family, scale down the number of events, activities you plan to attend or attent to so you can get enough time for yourself and all you wanna do.

“There is virtue in work and there is virtue in rest. Use both and overlook neither.” Alan Cohen.

Be punctual on parties.

As an introvert, arriving at your invited parties in time would give you the opportunity to chat with your hosts one on one and share more. It also guarantees you’ll avoid large crowds. You also get chance to see the whole picture of event before it starts especially when it’s not crowded.

“There’s only one moment in which you can arrive in time. if you are not there, you are either too early or too late.” Johan Cruijff

Be creative.

Come up with interesting things to do. To keep off anxiety think of a holiday party that involves some sort of activity.  This helps with reducing interactions with people and also keep people occupied with fun activities. There is less time for chatting thus an introvert would not feel off.

“The quality of a life is determined by its activities.” Aristotle.

Track your time.

Being able to account for your time relieves you of anxiety resulting to beating time. Introverts need to spend more time on themselves, therefore, accounting for time would sure grant you that.

A man who dares to waste one hour of time has not discovered the value of life.” Charles Darwin

Feel some pride in you.

Well, there is much said about pride and all, yes, but in this case the explanation is different. December holiday being the peak of celebrations, it’s expected human interaction to be high as well. And much interaction would definitely irritate an introvert. By seeing others donning better would cost an introvert some feelings. It’s best adviced you own your tastes and style and only mind that. Don’t see them more better, you too have it better than another.

“Comparing yourself to others is an act of violence against your authentic self.” Iyanla Vanzant

Mingle with at least one.

The few or many times you shall be attenting your holiday invitations and celebrations, at the least identify a fellow you can tag along for fun. Break the monotony of your introvert nature. Also, if they don’t vybe with you, do what makes you happy.

“Connecting with others is rewarding; it makes us feel like we’re not alone in the world.” Jonah Berger

Avoid certain discussions.

Your time is worth happiness. Avoid discussion on topics or subjects that don’t go well with you. It’s a holiday season and you should keep happy and entertained.

“In all debates, let truth be thy aim, not victory, or an unjust interest.” William Penn
